LIV Golf history, results and past winners

LIV Golf started in June 2022, with their first event played at Centurion Club outside of London, England. The tour is owned almost in full by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

LIV Golf seasons, schedules and events

The initial event was the start of an eight-tournament first season called the Invitational Series, with a rotating cast of players, swapping in new LIV Golf contracted players for those who were willing to try out the Saudi-owned league and its large, guaranteed prize money.

In 2023, the LIV Golf Invitational Series became the LIV Golf League, with 12 teams of four players remaining constant (except for injuries) throughout the 14-event season.

In 2024, the LIV Golf League added a 13th team and expanded its field to 54 players, including two, unaffiliated floating players.

LIV Golf format

Throughout LIV Golf's history, all of their tournaments have an individual 54-hole event and a team 54-hole event. Each tournament is 54 holes in length, with a shotgun start to each round. There is no cut for the field. Playoffs determine winners of the individual and team events.

For the first two seasons, the team component saw the top two scores from each team in each round count toward the team total. In the final round, the three best scores counted to the team total. Starting in 2024, the top three scores from a team count for the first two rounds, with all four scores counting in the final round. Beginning in 2025, all four scores from each team count in all three rounds.

LIV Golf season-long champions

Joaquin Niemann has won the most LIV Golf tournaments, with seven titles. Brooks Koepka is next best with five wins. Talor Gooch is third with four wins.

Dustin Johnson was the individual champion of the LIV Golf Invitational Series season, with Gooch winning the individual championship in 2023. Jon Rahm was the individual champion in 2024.

The 4 Aces team won the team championship in 2022, with the Crushers winning in 2023 and Ripper winning in 2024. The final event of the season is the LIV Golf Team Championship, which seeds teams based on performance in the individual tournaments and then leads into a team match-play competition to determine a winner.
