The Waste Management Phoenix Open is the start of the year for a lot of golf fans, and 31 of the world top 50 are in the field this week at TPC Scottsdale. Scottie Scheffler is by far the No. 1 player in the world, and then it follows from there. If anyone else wins, it's getting close to a full-on upset at this point. Still, that means we have a lot of potential value if the field does win.
Just a reminder that I make my expert picks looking at all fantasy leagues and formats. Whether you're playing in a fantasy golf leagues, betting on golf, or competing in a DFS (DraftKings, FanDuel) event, our picks highlight the top PGA Tour golfers to watch this week from our 2026 Waste Management Phoenix Open rankings.
2026 Waste Management Phoenix Open expert picks and rankings
1. Scottie Scheffler: He's a multi-time winner here, the best player in the world and pretty much unstoppable.
2. Xander Schauffele: Xander has a tremendous tournament record, and maybe he feels a sense of relief after ending that made-cuts streak last week.
3. Si Woo Kim: Si Woo isn't going anywhere, notching another great finish last week. He might be a little tired this week.
4. Hideki Matsuyama: Hideki has gone back-to-back here, albeit a decade ago, and he was T-11 last week.
5. Cameron Young: Young ended 2025 in brilliant fashion, and he was solid to finish T-22 last week. He's been in the top 12 here the last two years.

6. Matt Fitzpatrick: Fitz has always shown an interest in desert-style golf on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and his record indicates that.
7. Sam Burns: Burns was decent enough in Palm Springs, but this is a tournament where he shines and should like the greens a lot.
8. Maverick McNealy: McNealy rated out surprisingly well last week, and his play backed it up. Has been in the top 9 here the last two years.
9. Sahith Theegala: Theegala showed signs that his injury-plagued (unbeknownst to us) 2025 was more of a fluke. He likes this tournament.
10. Jordan Spieth: Spieth is the best horse-for-course play this week after the obvious suspects, but he's not in any kind of brilliant form -- just OK.
