2025 The Players Championship: PGA Tour one-and-done fantasy golf picks

PGA Tour one-and-done is perhaps the best fantasy golf game, with season-long leagues that give players a chance to pick one player for each tournament in the league season.

Once again in 2025, we offer weekly PGA Tour one-and-done golf picks for leagues of all kinds, including survivor leagues where the selected player must make the cut for the entry to continue to the next tournament.

We continue our 2025 PGA Tour one-and-done picks with the 2025 The Players Championship, concluding at the 2025 Tour Championship, keeping track of our picks all along the way.

Before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.

This week, we have the The Players Championship, with the PGA Tour hosting its crown jewel at their headquarters in Florida.

We had a good weekend! Karl Vilips got there for us at Puerto Rico, while Scottie Scheffler did finish well at the API. We also tipped Russell Henley (though I didn't take him in any league of mine).

Now, we have The Players. This is a tough tournament to predict because the course is so universally demanding. At The Players, you either have it or you don't, and there's no real favor shown to any player. However, the longest shot to win here in the last five years is 30-to-1.

My one-and-done recommendations fall into one of two categories: players who are in current form and those who have great course experience.

2025 The Players Championship One and Done picks

Course history

  • Scottie Scheffler: He's won here twice in a row, which had never previously happened. Hard to expect a three-peat.
  • Rory McIlroy: He's done it here, and he's probably done tweaking with new drivers for a while since this is a lockdown week.
  • Hideki Matsuyama: The 2020 champion here, Matsuyama has been in the top six in the last two years.
  • Shane Lowry: I won't bet Lowry this week, and I may well use him at Oakmont, but he has a good record here.

Current form

  • Ludvig Aberg: Ludvig had a rough Saturday at Bay Hill, but he showed strong signs on Sunday.
  • Keegan Bradley: Bradley is a top-11 machine here, and he's show some good signs.
  • Sepp Straka: Straka continues to play fabulous golf at every turn, so why should that not continue?
  • Daniel Berger: Berger has been playing tremendous golf, and he does seem to have an affinity for tighter setups.

My pick this week is Hideki Matsuyama.
