The 2019 Mayakoba Golf Classic purse is set for $7.2 million, with 82 professional players who complete four rounds at El Camaleon Golf Club in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, earning a paycheck this week.

The winner's share of the Mayakoba Golf Classic prize pool is at $1,296,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $784,800.

The Mayakoba Golf Classic field is headed by Tony Finau, Jason Day, Matt Kuchar and Abraham Ancer.

This tournament started with 132 players, with a cut down to the top 65 and ties in this, the next-to-last official event of 2019 on the PGA Tour calendar. The PGA Tour has cut fields for fall events from 144 players to 132 players with hopes of getting tournaments done more easily.

With rain wiping out play on Thursday in its entirety, the tournament is headed to a Monday finish. The players completed the third round on Sunday and started the fourth without repairing.

With the new PGA Tour cut rule down to the top 65 and ties, no players are subject to the PGA Tour's secondary cut any longer.

When more than 65 professionals make the cut, the PGA Tour adds to the total purse to make sure every player making the 36-hole cut gets paid. The purse for the tournament is now not $7.2 million but $7.44 million.

The fall events offer significant paydays and the benefits that come with winning on the PGA Tour. Winners of these events get a two-plus season exemption on the PGA Tour, as well berths into the Masters, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Players Championship and the PGA Championship.
