Frank Robledo, player agent for several female pros, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with federal counts of wire and credit card fraud, as well aggravated identity theft.
Robledo, 35, is alleged to have stolen over $200,000 from LPGA player Maria Hernandez, a client of his firm, Elite Advisors Sports Management. Prosecutors allege Robledo convinced Hernandez to give him the money as an investment in two companies, which Robledo then allegedly turned around to use for personal expenses.
The 28-year-old Spaniard is ranked No. 266 in the Rolex Rankings, with her best finish in 16 LPGA starts this season coming as a T-19 at the Kia Classic back in March.
The Elite Advisors website lists three other golf clients, including Symetra Tour player Rachel Connor, Paola Moreno and 2015 Pan-American Games medalist Maria Jo Uribe.
In his biography, Robledo claims to have been a player agent since 2008, representing both golfers and hockey players. He claims to have been a former Marine and a former Morgan Stanley investment advisor, as well owner of a mortgage business.
