Ollie Schniederjans is the newest hot name in pro golf. The Georgia Tech product and former No. 1 amateur in the world turned pro at the RBC Canadian Open and has notched top-25 finishes in his first two pro starts.
The first thing that stands out about Schniederjans is that he doesn't wear a hat. At all. Ever. That makes him the rare American player not to don a cap, which is like throwing money down the drain. However, Schniederjans took a page from Robert Rock and wants to let his hair breath.
So why doesn't Ollie Schniederjans wear a hat? Simple: He never has.
"I stopped wearing a hat when I quit baseball when I was 12," said Schniederjans at the RBC Canadian Open. "I never liked wearing a hat. And it's just me doing me, and I'm comfortable with it. And I don't feel like changing a whole lot because I'm professional. I like how I feel and look, and I haven't worn a hat since I was 12, so I didn't feel like throwing one on right now."
Is he upset having to compromise money for letting his locks see the sun on the course?
“There are things more important than sponsors," Schniederjans said.
Speaking as a bald man, there's no way that's true, Ollie.
