You don't have two left feet, at least literally, and you don't use each of your feet the same way in the golf swing. So, why then should golf shoes have symmetrical spike patterns for your feet?
That's the question adidas Golf answered Tuesday as it introduced its asym energy Boost, the company's first shoe with an asymmetrical spike pattern. The intent behind the shoes is simple: provide traction not based on the symmetrical shape of our feet but based on how we use our feet in the golf swing. Yes, that means there are right- and left-handed versions of the shoe.
The shoes otherwise model very similarly what was introduced earlier in the year with the introduction of the adipower Boost line. The introduction of the company's Boost foam material in the midsole has been a winner for those shoes, creating a very comfortable shoe regardless of terrain. The waterproof leather upper and the company's Fit Sleeve keep the shoe snug, but with a custom-feeling fit.
The adidas Golf asym energy Boost shoes (MSRP: $300) are now available.
