TaylorMade CEO Ben Sharpe has resigned his position, citing "personal reasons."
David Abeles has been named Sharpe's replacement. Abeles, who was president and CEO of Competitor Group, returned to the company in February after leaving his role as an executive vice president in November 2013.
Sharpe took over as TaylorMade CEO in April 2014, assuming the role from Mark King, who was promoted to President of Adidas Group North America. The 40-year-old Sharpe had spent six years as TaylorMade-adidas Golf's European managing director was executive vice president of Adidas Golf and Ashworth before becoming CEO. He was tasked with getting the struggling golf operation back on solid footing in the wake of a massive overstock of previously released equipment.
