Wales Open host Celtic Manor turned into military vehicle parking lot

In two weeks, the European Tour will return to Celtic Manor for the Wales Open. Right now, however, one of the resort's three courses is a parking lot for military vehicles.

NATO is meeting at Celtic Manor this week, deciding if it should pursue further sanctions against Russia for its incursions into Ukrainian territory and politics, both officially and through its support of separatist organizations in the former Soviet republic.

In what amounts to a show of force, several British military vehicles have been parked on golf-course space at the resort, including a life-size model of a F-35 jet, a Humvee and a tank. The British ministry of defense made the decision on the display, not NATO, in an effort to showcase the nation's defense industry.
