Tiger Woods to Rory McIlroy: I’m going to deny you a Masters green jacket

Tiger Woods has his mission for 2015: Deny Rory McIlroy the career Grand Slam.

McIlroy shared Wednesday at The Barclays what Woods told him this week during their New York media tour for Nike Golf: "I'm not going to let you win a green jacket next year."

The reigning Open and PGA champion needs to win the Masters -- for him, preferably next April -- to complete the career Grand Slam. Woods, who did not play in the first two majors of 2014, has not won the Masters since a 2005 playoff win over Chris DiMarco and been denied adding a 15th major championship since the 2008 U.S. Open.

Perhaps inadvertently, McIlroy took a swipe at Woods in their joint appearance on "The Tonight Show" on Monday, talking about the era of Woods' dominance in the past tense. That may have spurred Woods' comment to the current No. 1 in the world.
