Report: Harding Park to host 2015 WGC Match Play Championship

Things just keep on getting better for San Francisco's TPC Harding Park.

At a Wednesday news conference, the city, PGA of America and PGA Tour will announce the course will not only host the 2020 PGA Championship and 2025 Presidents Cup, but also next year's WGC Match Play Championship.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports it's a done deal for Harding Park, which is quickly installing itself as a pro golf beacon in the Bay City. The tournament had been at Dove Mountain in Marana, Ariz., for the last eight years. The report also says the date of the event will likely move from its traditional February date to an already stacked May to give the best chance for optimal conditions at Harding Park.

This announcement may well also be in response to a conundrum the PGA Tour faced in a contract it had with the city to bring the BMW Championship, the third leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, to Harding Park before 2016.

The event is still looking for a title sponsor to replace Accenture, as the consulting company walked away from the role after this year's event.

These announcements mark a bit of an upgrade for Harding Park in the stature of the pro events it hosts, though it has been home to the Champions Tour's season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship in three of the last five years.
