Between their storied careers, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson share 114 PGA Tour wins. For the first time in their careers on Friday, they both missed the cut in the same event.

Woods shot 1-under-par 69 at the Old White TPC to miss the weekend at The Greenbrier Classic in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. His two-round total of even fell short of the cut line by a shot. It is the ninth time in Woods' PGA Tour career he has missed the cut and second time this season after the Wells Fargo Championship in May. This is the second season in his career Woods has missed multiple cuts in the same year (2005).

Mickelson missed the cut for the second consecutive year at this event. His second consecutive round of 1-over 71 sent him packing. It was his seventh consecutive over-par round on the PGA Tour - a career worst for the left-hander.

U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, who played with Woods for the first two days, birdied the par-3 finishing hole to shoot 66 and take sole possession of the clubhouse lead at 9 under par.

Four players are tied for second at 8 under par, including Jonathan Byrd (68), rookie Charlie Beljan (62), 48-year-old Jeff Maggert (68) and Jerry Kelly (66).
