2026 PGA Championship: Expert picks, PGA Tour field rankings and fantasy golf tips

The PGA Tour this week features the 2026 PGA Championship starting on Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

My PGA Tour field ranking for PGA Championship looks at the top 10 players in this 156-player field that brings together the best in the world for the second men's major of the year.

The PGA Championship marks the return of the PGA of America major to Philadelphia, which is a cool thing to happen in the 250th anniversary of the United States.

It really does feel like there are conflicting things at work here. We have a clear Big Four. They also appear somewhat tired. Rory never had the juice at Quail Hollow after his post-Masters rest. Matt Fitzpatrick just had the best 45 days of his life, but he was clearly out of gas at Charlotte. Cam Young was the favorite on Sunday and flailed about the place. Scottie Scheffler has been on the doorstep the last three times out, so does he get over the hump here?

And what about everyone else? Kristoffer Reitan has been playing great for weeks. Alex Fitzpatrick clearly belongs on the PGA Tour. JJ Spaun is back in the conversation, kind of. Lots to consider here at a Ross venue that should play pretty tough around the greens.

Just a reminder that I make my expert picks looking at all fantasy leagues and formats. Whether you're playing in a fantasy golf leagues, betting on golf, or competing in a DFS (DraftKings, FanDuel) event, our picks highlight the top PGA Tour golfers to watch this week from our 2026 PGA Championship rankings.

2026 PGA Championship expert picks and rankings

1. Scottie Scheffler: Scheffler is the clear top pick here, both as defending champion and as the guy who keeps getting close in tournaments without his best stuff.

2. Cam Young: Young four-putted on Sunday in Charlotte, so that's a concern along with the rest of his round, but he's still got the game that makes sense for Aroinimink.

3. Rory McIlroy: Rory may have entered the Brooks Koepka part of his career, where it's really only the majors that matter anymore. Can he turn it on here?

4. Matt Fitzpatrick: Fitzpatrick seems gassed a bit at the moment, winning in between the Masters twice. But maybe a working vacation last week was enough?

5. Tommy Fleetwood: Fleetwood was hanging around at Quail Hollow, and that was his best finish since the Valero Texas Open and The Players. Is he surging at the right time?

6. Collin Morikawa: Morikawa should benefit here from both his ballstriking and the frustrating nature of Donald Ross greens that could prove tricky for everyone.

7. Xander Schauffele: Xander did not play well at Quail Hollow, but there's always a question about how much energy the 2024 winner was trying to expend this past weekend.

8. Ludvig Aberg: Aberg would make a lot of sense here, playing quite well in his two post-Masters Signature events and having the length to dominate Aronimink from tee to green.

9. J.J. Spaun: Spaun has been great in the last two Signature events, which really raises the question of whether he played well at the wrong time relative to this championship.

10. Jon Rahm: I'm not going to make the same mistake of thinking Jon Rahm has the juice in majors, but he also keeps playing well on LIV.
