Matt Fitzpatrick is ready for the ‘oh, sh*t’ moment of becoming a new father

Matt Fitzpatrick and his wife, Katherine, are excited about becoming parents for the first time, but as the time of the delivery draws nearer, Fitzpatrick is looking for advice on what's about to happen in his life.

The Fitzpatricks announced they were expecting just 10 days after Matt won the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort near Tampa, which came just a week after a close call at The Players Championship against Cameron Young.

Obviously, the birth of their first child is a bigger deal to the Fitzpatricks than anything else, and Matt wants to get it right.

He was asked on Saturday about the excitement he's feeling as Katherine's pregnancy moves along.

"It's so exciting, obviously. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before," Fitzpatrick said. "This is my first child. Yeah, just super excited for it. Super excited."

Then he revealed some of the advice he's been getting about what he'll deal with as a father-to-be.

"I was talking to Ryan Fox a couple weeks ago and he was saying for nine months that you're like, yeah, I'm going to be a dad or whatever and it's kind of the 'oh, sh*t' moment when you're on the way to the hospital and the baby is on the way," Fitzpatrick said to laughs.

"Obviously not had that yet, but all being well, in three months we'll have a healthy baby so we'll see."
