The LPGA has canceled the 2025 Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, which was scheduled to be played in March at Palos Verdes Golf Club just outside of Los Angeles.
The event was canceled in response to a multi-year payment dispute with the tournament underwriter, which has not paid financial obligations for the event already played in 2024 or for the event scheduled for this year.
“We are deeply disappointed to announce this year’s Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship will not go forward in March,” said Interim LPGA Commissioner Liz Moore.
“We apologize for the impact this has on our players, as well as on our fans, partners and volunteers. We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and members at Palos Verdes Golf Club, Palos Verdes Estates, and tournament operator, Outlyr, for their exceptional partnership and hospitality. It is our intention to return to Palos Verdes in the future to host title sponsor, Fir Hills, once again alongside these great partners. We remain dedicated to bringing this event back to our schedule to honor the incredible legacy of Seri Pak, who has been a wonderful ambassador for the game and this event.”
Nelly Korda is the 2024 champion of the $2 million event, played in 2023 as the DIO Implant LA Open. Fir Hills, a Silicon Valley investment firm, came on as title sponsor in 2024, and LPGA legend Seri Pak (who went by Se Ri Pak in her time on tour) became tournament host.
The event was scheduled to be played March 20-23, and the LPGA is hopeful to work out a solution to play the event later in the season once the situation is resolved with the underwriter.
The loss of a full-field event creates issues for players who are not eligible to play in the limited-field events played in the LPGA Tour's winter Asian swing.
The 2025 LPGA Tour schedule starts next week in Orlando with the winners-only Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. The Founders Cup, which has moved to earlier in the schedule and to Bradenton, Florida, is the following week and is the first full-field event of the year.
There are three events in Asia -- in Thailand, Singapore and China -- after the Founders Cup. The LPGA then returns to Arizona at the end of March for the Ford Championship. After that, the T-Mobile Match Play in Las Vegas and the JM Eagle LA Championship are the events that lead into the first major of the year, The Chevron Championship.
The LPGA schedule has 32 official events, as well as the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown in Korea and the co-sanctioned Grant Thornton Invitational.
