The 2018 British Open Championship purse is set for $10.5 million, with the winner's share coming in at $1,890,000 -- the standard 18 percent payout according to the R&A's British Open Championship prize money distribution chart.

With 78 professionals making the cut, money has been added to the purse, with each successive place past 70th place paying $125 less, down to a minimum of $23,175 for last place among the weekend field. One amateur made the cut and will earn no money for his finish.

Pros who miss the cut are also paid. The top 10 and ties among pros to miss the cut get $7,375 each, with the next 20 professional golfers and ties getting $5,900 each. The remainder of professional golfers to finish 36 holes earn $4,950 each.

The British Open Championship field is headed by every top 50 player in the world, adding in Tiger Woods, including Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas.

The event is played this year at Carnoustie Golf Club in Scotland.
