The 2016 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational falls in an unprecedented spot on the PGA Tour schedule this year, coming just two weeks after the U.S. Open instead of its usual spot the week before the PGA Championship. That's in an effort to accommodate the men's Olympic golf tournament. The event also conflicts with the European Tour's 100th French Open, so the European Tour did not co-sanction this event as in years past. That means a meager 60-player field this week at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.
Jason Day is the favorite to open this week, going off at 5.5-to-1 odds. Dustin Johnson, making his first post-U.S. Open win start, is at 7-to-1, while Jordan Spieth it the only other player under 10-to-1 odds at 9-to-1 to start this week.
