2025 Valero Texas Open: PGA Tour one-and-done fantasy golf picks

PGA Tour one-and-done is perhaps the best fantasy golf game, with season-long leagues that give players a chance to pick one player for each tournament in the league season.

Once again in 2025, we offer weekly PGA Tour one-and-done golf picks for leagues of all kinds, including survivor leagues where the selected player must make the cut for the entry to continue to the next tournament.

We continue our 2025 PGA Tour one-and-done picks with the 2025 Valero Texas Open, concluding at the 2025 Tour Championship, keeping track of our picks all along the way.

Before we begin, if you're not familiar with game, read this primer on the one-and-done fantasy golf format, and welcome to the game. It really is as easy as it sounds, but you have to take a long-term view of the season to figure out how best to use players.

This week, we have the Valero Texas Open, with the PGA Tour moving to San Antonio for a second Texas event and the last chance to get into the Masters.

LAST CHANCE! GNN MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL: Join now and get 2 years for the price of 18 months OR 3 years for the price of 2 years! Access all our winning tools and analysis, as well as two annual gifts!

Last week, we had the proper horse-for-course play, and he blows it. The weird year continues, though we did have Pendrith.

This week, we're at TPC San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open. If you're in the Masters, you don't want to win this week because of the historical trend/curse. So, you kinda want to look for someone not in the field, right? But they, by definition, aren't as good.

My one-and-done recommendations fall into one of two categories: players who are in current form and those who have great course experience.

2025 Valero Texas Open One and Done picks

Course history

  • Corey Conners: Conners is a two-time winner here, and he's been playing well.
  • Matt Kuchar: I'm not telling you to pick Matt Kuchar, but he has a good record here.
  • Charley Hoffman: This is the Charley Hoffman Open, truly. But Alex Noren is a better play.
  • Hideki Matsuyama: Hideki has a good record here, but again, he has no incentive to win.

Current form

  • Bud Cauley: Cauley played great in the Florida Swing and has everything to play for this week with the Masters and better PGA Tour status.
  • Gary Woodland: He's a horse-for-course play who just had a great week in Houston that may have revived his career.
  • Tommy Fleetwood: Look, he's playing great, and you'll never pick him to win a big event until he does.
  • Akshay Bhatia: Akshay should have won The Players and won here last year, so why not pick him again?

My pick this week is Tommy Fleetwood.
