The 2019 Hero World Challenge purse is set for $3.5 million, with 18 professional players who complete four rounds at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas, earning a paycheck this week.
The winner's share of the Hero World Challenge prize pool is at $1,000,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $400,000.
The Hero World Challenge field is headed by Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm and Gary Woodland.
This tournament started with 18 players, as there's no cut for this unofficial event, hosted by Tiger Woods and his foundation.
To qualify for this field, players are required to be in the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking at the cut-off date. There are two sponsor exemptions.
With the new PGA Tour cut rule down to the top 65 and ties, no players are subject to the PGA Tour's secondary cut any longer. However, there's no cut this week, so the cut rule doesn't matter.
Additionally, there are big Official World Golf Ranking points on the line, as the field strength of just these 18 top-ranked players is better than more than a dozen PGA Tour fields in 2019.
While this event offers a significant payday, a win here doesn't come with the benefits that come with winning on the PGA Tour. Winners of these events don't get a two-plus season exemption on the PGA Tour, nor berths into the Masters, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Players Championship and the PGA Championship.
