There was a surprise guest who showed up to the Drive Shack in West Palm Beach, Fla., last week to celebrate Cobra Golf's forthcoming 2020 equipment lineup. It was 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, and he had with him a Cobra Golf staff bag.

Dufner, who had famously become an equipment (and hat) free-agent in recent memory, had signed on as a Cobra Golf ambassador and was making his first public appearance since joining on the staff.

The company made the announcement official on Tuesday, welcoming Dufner to a team that includes Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau and Lexi Thompson.

The terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Cobra team," Dufner said. "The success of Rickie and Bryson over the past few years with Cobra equipment certainly piqued my interest in the brand. When I tested their products, I was impressed by the improvement in my numbers across the board and by the look and feel of their equipment. I had been testing a variety of products over the past year, and Cobra has proven to be the best for me. I am thrilled to have Cobra clubs in the bag and represent the Cobra brand.”

Dufner had been using a Cobra driver throughout much of 2019, and this deal now expands the number of Cobra clubs in his bag to include irons and wedges. The five-time PGA Tour winner will use a Cobra staff bag and his new equipment setup at this week's Mayakoba Golf Classic, the PGA Tour stop in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
