How to play DraftKings daily fantasy golf: Rules, scoring, basics, tips and tricks

So, you've decided to play daily fantasy golf, but you have no idea how to play on DraftKings -- the rules, how scoring works, any of that. Well, we here at Golf News Net are happy to help. Before you delve into our weekly fantasy golf picks, we thought it would be a good idea to give you the basics behind daily fantasy golf.

DraftKings daily fantasy golf rules

In DraftKings daily fantasy golf games, the format starts with a salary cap-based open draft. You draft six players that are valued based on their world ranking, recent performance and past performance at the event in question. You have $50,000 to play with to make those picks. Once the tournament starts, you earn points based on a player's position on the leaderboard and their scoring, including birdies, eagles, pars, dropped shots (bogeys or worse) and streaks for birdies and bogey-free rounds. The player with the most points earned by their six-player team at the end of the tournament wins.

DraftKings daily fantasy golf basic strategy and tips

The basic rule for DraftKings is you need to have six players who make the cut to have a chance to make the money. Otherwise, you're losing out on 36 holes of potential points and the bonus points based on a player's finish (they earn no bonus for missing the cut). It's better to pick six guys you believe will make the cut compare to three or four and hoping that almost half your team will find their way to the weekend.

In most DraftKings contests, you can create multiple entries. That's typically a good idea, particularly for events with a bigger payout. Find players that can be the foundation of each of your entries -- typically one or two -- and then create varieties based on that foundation.
