Ping is comprehensively updating its equipment lineup in 2018, including the new G400 irons that join the driver, fairway woods and Crossover that are all generating substantial buzz for the company -- perhaps the most since the G30 line hit the market.
The G400 iron is designed to offer distance and height familiar to touring pros while offering forgiveness that leads to better scores.
COR-Eye tech has been improved with a new undercut in the top rail to improve face flexing, while a heat-treating process produces Hyper 17-4 stainless steel, 40 percent stronger and 18 percent better flexing than standard 17-4. A back-cavity badge made of aluminum and elastomer improves sound and feel, while the Hydropearl Chrome finish reduces friction and improves turf interaction.
It's a game-improvement iron that the company says it has seen testing tour players gain a club of distance with the height of two less clubs.
The Ping G400 irons are available in 4-9, PW, UW, SW and LW in the stock Ping AWT 2.0 steel shaft (R, S, X) or the Ping Alta CB graphite shaft (with no upcharge for aftermarket shaft upgrades) for $125 per iron in steel and $137.50 per iron in graphite.
