Dustin Johnson seems on track to come back in May from the slip-and-fall down a short staircase just before the Masters.
According to Golf Channel, Johnson's agent, David Winkle told the network that the world No. 1 spent the remainder of the Masters Week at home in south Florida, resting up the lower back injury and the elbow bruise that came from slipping on steps while walking in socks on Wednesday, the eve of the tournament. Johnson was apparently going to move a car. Despite an attempt to play on Thursday in the final grouping of the first round, he thought the better of it and chose to withdraw.
Johnson said if the injury had happened earlier in the week, he would've healed in time for Thursday.
As for a comeback, Winkle said Johnson is looking at the Wells Fargo Championship -- played this year in Wilmington, N.C., as Charlotte's Quail Hollow prepares to host the PGA Championship in August -- for a return. The tournament will be played at Eagle Point Golf Club from May 4-7, the week prior to The Players Championship.
