Brooks Koepka did something on Friday you don't see too often on the PGA Tour: He nearly whiffed in a swing at The Honda Classic. Then, he snapped his driver head.
Koepka's ball landed next to a tree on the par-4 10th hole in the second round, requiring him to make a difficult swing to advance the ball forward. Instead, Koepka hit the tree with his club during his swing, and he barely nudged the ball. According to ShotLink, it went about 3 feet. Not a lot.
From there, Koepka didn't have much of a better look, only hitting the ball about 100 feet with his third shot.
Koepka wound up making triple-bogey 7 on the hole.
Later in the round, Koepka broke his driver when, after a tee shot he didn't like at PGA National's Champion Course, he snapped the head off from the shaft after appearing to hit the tee marker or the ground with his driver head.
