Tiger Woods didn't play in the 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open. (He did in 2015, missing the cut, in part, after a brutal 82.) He was in the United Arab Emirates, playing in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic before withdrawing ahead of his second-round tee time with what was termed lower back spasms.
That fact didn't stop a number of tournament-goers from telling clearly fake stories to the local news about their interactions with him and where the spotted him at TPC Scottsdale.

ABC-15 in Phoenix interviewed some fans and asked them about seeing Tiger Woods. One group of bros swore that Tiger threw them a ball at No. 16. (He didn't.) A number of fans said they saw Woods, mentioning in their tall tales that the person they saw was wearing Nike from head to toe. Some fans asked the reporter if Woods was actually on the property.
To be fair to the fans, the reporter kind of leads them on by suggesting Woods was out there practicing when he clearly wasn't. People are gullible, so they might believe it. But for the fans who completely made up that they saw Woods? C'mon now.
