Bridgestone Golf is getting into the limited-edition, high-end equipment game with a new limited offering dubbed the TourB series, which will include three drivers, irons sets, fairway woods and hybrids.
This series, however, will not be a mass-market, golf-shop play. Rather, the TourB series will only be available come mid-Spring (official date TBD) at approved custom-fitting shops.
Bridgestone TourB drivers
There are three drivers in this limited series, all retailing for $700 each. The drivers have a matte finish with eight hosel-adjustable lie-loft configurations. They each feature Flex Action Speed Technology (FAST, of course) with a flexing face that delivers higher ball speeds through the face, while Power Ribs (similar to Srixon's wave sole) to promote stability of the head and to dampen vibration at impact. Each face is power milled to offer better stability when the the ball strikes the face.
Here are the three models, as described by Bridgestone:
- XD-3 – 455cc head, round shape with deep face to promote a medium launch, neutral shot shape.
- XD-5 – 460cc head, flatter, shallow-face design to promote a high launching draws.
- XD-7 – 445cc head, classic pear shape that encourages low launching, fade-biased shot shape.
All three models come with a six-piece set of interchangeable weights (2-12g) to help players customize shot shape and height. Premium shafts are offered stock.
Bridgestone TourB XD-F fairway woods, XD-H hyrbids
The fairway woods and hybrids in the TourB series borrow heavily from the technology of the drivers. The XD-F fairway woods have a shallow face and are available in 15- and 18-degree lofts. Similarly compact, the XD-H hybrids are available in 18-, 21- and 24-degree options. The fairway woods and hybrids are listed at $400 and $250, respectively.
Bridgestone TourB X-CB and X-Blade irons
There are two iron sets in the TourB collection, built for low handicappers: the cavity-backed X-CB and X-Blade. Both feature 1020 Endo forging with minimal offset for a clean address and expected workability. Both sets have a forged mass placed behind the impact zone for feel. The X-CB has the wider sole of the two. Both sets cost $1,200.
