Jason Day to Nike Golf has been out in the golf ether since late summer.
Day then re-signed with TaylorMade in a multi-year extension of his equipment endorsement deal. However, as part of the announcement, TaylorMade-adidas Golf made no mention of extending Day's apparel and footwear deal with adidas Golf, opening the door to the change to Nike. That change was formally announced Sunday, with Day signing a multi-year deal with Nike Golf to wear their apparel and footwear, as well hat and gloves.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Day will wear Nike Golf apparel starting at the SBS Tournament of Champions next week, the PGA Tour's first event of 2017.
“Joining Nike is a dream come true,” Day said in a release. “The brand is synonymous with the world’s best athletes. I’m honored and can’t wait to be part of the team and working closely with Nike to take my game, and the sport of golf, to even higher levels.”
In 2016, Day won three times, including back-to-back starts at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, as well The Players Championship.
