Everyone knows -- or at least they should know -- what an Arnold Palmer is. It's a delicious drink mixing iced tea and lemonade, something people caught a whiff of the in 1960s and have been crediting him with ever since.
However, there's a misconception about the right mix of iced tea and lemonade in a proper Arnold Palmer. Some would suggest that the proper Arnold Palmer is 50-50 mix, half iced tea and half lemonade. However, that's not how Mr. Palmer made his Arnold Palmers.
Instead, Arnold Palmer made the perfect Arnold Palmer by using more iced tea than lemonade, layering in the two beverages together. Mr. Palmer started with a base layer of iced tea, going up about one-third of the glass. Then he went in for lemonade for another third. Then he finished it off with another third of iced tea -- in the process, perfectly mixing the two drinks without the need for a straw or spoon to stir them together.
It's genius, and he demonstrated how to make the perfect Arnold Palmer in an ESPN "This is SportsCenter" commercial.
