Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas sporting FedEx Cup playoff mustaches

Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas (as well Morgan Hoffmann) are taking hockey's concept of a playoff beard and putting a golf spin on it. After a Twitter poll suggested they should (and they were going to anyhow), Fowler and Thomas decided to growing FedEx Cup playoff mustaches, which they're showing off at The Barclays, the first leg of the four-event series.

Both players showed off the developing flavor-savors on Snapchat on Wednesday.

All told they're not bad efforts, at least as far as facial hair goes. For Fowler, this isn't necessarily a new look, as his alter ego, Dick Fowler P.I., sported a mustache in an ad campaign for Farmers Insurance.

As things stand right now, we can expect to see these mustaches for at least the first three legs of the playoffs, including this week at Bethpage Black, next week in the Boston area for the Deutsche Bank Championship and again a week later at the BMW Championship near Chicago. Fowler enters the playoffs ranked 28th in the standings, while Thomas is 10th, making it very likely that the Alabama product will make it all the way to the playoff finale at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
