You may have noticed that Sergio Garcia and Rafa Cabrera-Bello, the two Spaniards in the 2016 men's Olympic golf tournament, are wearing white-and-blue ribbons in Rio.
Given Spain's colors are red, black and yellow, that might be confusing. However, there's a reasonable explanation.
Both Garcia and Cabrera-Bello are wearing the ribbons in honor of Seve Ballesteros, who used to wear the colors every Sunday.
"Seve would have loved to have been in the Olympics," Garcia told Steve Sands of NBC Sports.
Golf has made its return to the Olympic program these Games after a 112-year absence. The beloved Spaniard Ballesteros never had an opportunity to even consider representing his country in the Olympics.
