U.S. Open volunteers showed Andrew Johnston’s name as Beef on leaderboard

Andrew Johnston became better known on both sides of the Atlantic when he won the Spanish Open in difficult conditions in May. Johnston endeared himself to fans after saying that he was going to go home to England and "get hammered" to celebrate the win, which he did and filmed it.

Now fans in the U.S. get to experience the bulky Englishman whose nickname is "Beef."

Johnston got a warm welcome from the volunteer fans at the 10th hole on Wednesday in his final practice round. The crew working the manual scoreboard on the challenging par 4 updated the board with his group, which included Graeme McDowell and Shane Lowry, and they used Beef for Johnston's name.

They also misspelled Lowry's name, but, that's not the point here.

Beef!
