The 3M Company has sold Tartan Park Golf Course and a 477-acre tract of land around Lake Elmo in Minnesota to HC Golf Course Development LLC, headed by Pro Links Sports owner Hollis Cavner.
The Cavner-opened company has designs on reducing the 27-hole facility to one 18-hole course, dubbed The King & The Queen, with nine hole designed by Arnold Palmer and the other nine designed by Annika Sorenstam. For Sorenstam, who won 10 LPGA majors in her career, this is her first U.S. design.
“I am very excited about my first design project here in the U.S., and partnering with Mr. Palmer and his team is an honor,” said Sorenstam in a release. “Our vision is to make it family friendly with a variety of tees to suit everyone from kids to more experienced players. I’ve played some of the holes in past pro-ams and look forward to working with the beautiful property.”
The company claims the course will be built to LEED standards for energy and water conservation.
The new course is expected to re-open in the summer of 2017.
