The Wynn Golf Club, the $500 per round course in back of the Wynn Las Vegas, could soon be closing to make room for a third hotel on the property.
The golf course, which used to be the Desert Inn Golf Club before Wynn purchased the land and developed his Wynn and Encore resorts, is worth a pittance as a golf course compared to yet another high-story tower hotel. Wynn paid an estimated $270 million for the Desert Inn, which included the course, in 2000.
Siegfried Fischebacher of the legendary Vegas act Siegfried and Roy told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he has seen the plans in owner Steve Wynn's presence, and they indicate the golf club will be site for a 1,000-room boutique-style hotel, including a 40-acre lake and convention center.
The Wynn Golf Club figured prominently in the recent golf movie "The Squeeze."
