2015 U.S. Solheim Cup team: 10 qualifiers and two coming captain's picks

2015 U.S. Solheim Cup team: 10 qualifiers and two captain’s picks

The U.S. Solheim Cup team got 10 of its 12 players on Sunday, with qualifying for Juli Inkster's Germany-bound team wrapping after the Canadian Pacific Women's Open.

Eight players made the team on the basis of points: world No. 3 Stacy Lewis, Meijer LPGA Classic winner Lexi Thompson, veteran Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie, ANA Inspiration winner Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford and Gerina Piller.

Rookie Alison Lee and Lizette Salas made the team as the two highest-ranked American players in the Rolex Rankings who hadn't already qualified.

Inkster made two wild-card selections, announced Monday evening, adding Brittany Lang, who was 10th in points, and Paula Creamer, who finished 11th.

After the CPWO, four players qualified for the European team  based on their place in the Rolex Ranking: Anna Nordqvist, Azahara Munoz, Sandra Gal and Carlota Ciganda. They joined Suzann Pettersen, Gwladys Nocera, Charley Hull and Melissa Reid on the team, all who qualified via the Ladies European Tour points list.

European captain Carin Koch announced her four captain's picks on Tuesday, adding Caroline Hedwall, Karine Icher, Caroline Masson and Catriona Matthew to round out the team.

The 14th Solheim Cup will be played Sept. 18-20, 2015 at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club, with the U.S. looking to avenge its first-ever home loss in 2013 in Colorado and its first-ever two-match losing skid. The American team hasn't won in Europe since a 16-12 win in 2007 in Sweden.
