Englishman makes 408-yard hole-in-one at golf club in Kent

Most people would be happy with a hole in one from 50 yards, if they counted such things. So how happy would you be if you made an ace from 400 yards? That's what an Englishman did recently at Littlestone Golf Club in Kent, England.

On a windy tournament day at the club, 48-year-old Peter Vickerman drilled his tee shot at the downwind, 408-yard, par-4 11th hole.

“It was an extremely windy day and I knew I’d caught this particular drive, ‘out of the screws'; with a gradual draw, it flew towards the green," Vickerman said, according to Golf Club Management. “After despairingly looking around the green area for my ball, my opponent went towards the flag and said that there was a ball at the bottom of the cup. He asked me what I was playing with and I told him it was a Titleist Pro V1X with my initial’s ‘P.V.’ just above the logo."

And Vickerman had the right outlook.

“Of course, I didn’t really care what happened after that, but still went on to win the Coronation Cup," he said.

Vickerman's only been played golf since his early 30s, but is a 12-handicapper with two prior aces at Littlestone in the last 30 months -- including another on a par 4. He aced the 278-yard 13th hole, then the 182-yard 17th. Now this one.

What was his prize for this latest ace? A Boss watch. Of course.
