The Texas Wedge hasn't been too friendly to Texas native Jordan Spieth in 2014.
Once again on Friday, Spieth drew a terrible lie when someone unwittingly stepped on his golf ball and didn't tell him.
Spieth had missed the green just a little long at the par-3 fourth at The Australian Golf Club, his 13th hole of the day, in the second round of the Emirates Australian Open. As the 21-year-old made his way to the green, a marshal ahead of him and his playing partners accidentally stepped on Spieth's ball, pushing it deeper into the rough and creating a terrible lie from what appeared to be a standard up-and-down for par.
What's worse was the marshal didn't tell Spieth of the mistake; the gallery around the green did. Flustered, Spieth made bogey.
"I didn't know and some of the crowd told me that he had done that and that's the third time it has happened this year, and each time it has cost me a shot - all three times," Spieth said.
"It is really amazing because the ball was 10 feet off the green and I don't see how you don't know where the golf balls are. I went from a chance at making a two there to making a four, and I was not happy going to the next hole."
Spieth recovered nicely, however, with birdies on the final two holes to turn in 1-over 72 and sit two shots behind Greg Chalmers heading into the weekend.
