VIDEO: We have a new world’s longest usable golf club at 20 feet, 6 inches

We've been keep tracking of the arms race that has become swinging the world's longest usable golf club. The bar has, well, been lengthened, again.

Dallas-area man Michael Furrh has successfully swung a golf club measuring 20 feet, 6 inches in length, blasting by the prior record by 25 inches. He hit his 20-foot-plus club 63 yards on the first attempt.

Furrh was a previous holder of the record, taking the mark in 2012 by swinging a club that was 14 feet, 2.5 inches long.

That mark was surpassed by previous record holder Karsten Maas, who bumped up the record by 2.5 more inches. When the 2015 Guinness World Records came out, Maas still held the mark, hitting the ball 182 yards with his lengthy driver. (How far you hit the ball has nothing to do with the record; you just have to hit the ball forward with the club.) But not a month later, serial Guinness record holder Ashrita Furman took the record by hitting an 18-foot, 5-inch club some 28 yards. Furman, who has broken over 500 world records in 40 years of trying, used a Callaway ERC head to set the mark.

How long Furrh's new mark will stand is anyone's guess, but, at this rate, it'll be eclipsed by Christmas.
