Americans are looking for answers, trying to figure out why it is the Americans have lost six of the last seven Ryder Cups. One Oklahoma sportscasters believes he has the reason pegged: Michael Jordan.
John Holcomb of News 9 in Oklahoma City believes No. 23 has cursed the American side with his presence at Ryder Cups.
"I don't want to knock Michael Jordan, but there's a trend developing," Holcomb said Sunday night. "Arguably, the greatest basketball player of all time, arguably, is now, arguably, the best bad-luck charm in American Ryder Cup golf. Yes, Jordan was in Scotland, hoping to offer inspiration to the U.S. side. At least this year he didn't try to intimidate Ian Poulter."
It all sounds good in concept. Jordan has, in fact, been at Americans losses in 2002, '04, '06, '10, '12 and '14. (God, that's a lot of losses.) However, Jordan was also on the grounds for American wins in 1999 and 2008, so that kind of doesn't hold up under scrutiny.
Arguably.
