The Ice Bucket Challenge is ridiculous. It's taken up at least half of your Facebook feed. Thousands of gallons of good water that California could really use right now are being used for these videos. But it has evolved into a great cause: raising awareness of ALS.

Not too many people know the effects of ALS better than Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson. Watson's long-time caddie Bruce Edwards died in 2004 due to complications from ALS. The pair enjoyed one last great run together at the 2003 U.S. Open, when Watson opened with an unexpected 65 at Olympia Fields that set off a week-long tribute to his friend and looper.

Watson took the Ice Bucket Challenge on Sunday, posting the video to Facebook and dedicating it to Edwards. The U.S. Ryder Cup captain challenged all nine automatic qualifiers for the American team and his eventual three captain's picks, to take on the challenge.
