Rory McIlroy on relationship with G-Mac: Good as it’s always been

Rory McIlroy's relationship with Graeme McDowell is as "good as it's always been," the world No. 2 said on Tuesday at the 2013 U.S. Open.

Speaking in a news conference at Merion Golf Club, McIlroy affirmed the two, while they haven't been at the same place very often of late, are on good terms.

The relationship between the two Ulstermen was thought strained after it was reported that McIlroy would be leaving Horizon Sports Management after just 18 months with the Dublin-based firm that also represents McDowell. The 2010 U.S. Open champion is thought to have been a factor in recruiting McIlroy to the firm and away from International Sports Management.

McIlroy has been mum on the representation change, largely because of contractual obligations.

The 2012 PGA champion is expected to start his own management group, headed by father, Gerry.
