Source: PGA Tour acquisition of Canadian Tour now a formality

The PGA Tour acquisition of the Canadian Tour is essentially a done deal, merely awaiting official approval from the PGA Tour board, a player told GNN on Wednesday.

The player does not anticipate the Canadian Tour will offer status on the Web.com Tour to top finishers on the money list in 2013, but will offer similar exemptions as PGA Tour Latinoamerica in 2014. PGA Tour Latinoamerica will offer Web.com Tour status to the top five finishers on its money list at the end of this, its inaugural season.

One condition of the acquisition will be that the Canadian Tour can no longer host events in the United States. The player said the Canadian Tour has already canceled an event scheduled for November in California.
