Rory McIlroy is probably going to get his Screen Actors Guild card soon, at this rate.

He and his wife, Erica, made a cameo in "The Devil Wears Prada 2," marking the second movie in which the two-time defending Masters champion has appeared -- following his role, as himself, in "Happy Gilmore 2."

The couple appears briefly as themselves, found at a Met Gala-style party scene along the film's stars: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

As it turns out, the director of the film is a big golf fan, and that's how the opportunity happened.

"After I won The Players last year, in the press conference afterwards, someone asked me the question, 'What did you do to get ready last night or to relax?' And I said I watched 'The Devil Wears Prada,'" McIlroy said. "And that got back to the director, Dave Frankel, who has a bit of a connection to the game. His son actually played golf at Stanford.

"So the movie reached out and they said, 'Look, we're shooting in New York in the summer. If you want to be a part of it, do a cameo, whatever, we would love to have you.'"

There was no doubt about the response.

"And I ran it by Erica and she said, 'We are absolutely doing that,'" McIlroy said, to laughter from the assembled media.

McIlroy loved being on the set and being in the movie. More importantly, it was something he and his wife did together.

"It was cool for both of us to be there and be in it," he said, "and to sort of have the experience together was very cool."
