Scottie Scheffler paid tribute on Monday to Seve Ballesteros' iconic Nike double-logo visor that he fashioned himself ahead of the 1986 Masters.
The two-time Masters champion played his practice round to start Masters week, days after his second-child Remy was born, while wearing a pair of Nike golf shoes that featured the same double-logo look as the Spaniard's visor from 40 years ago.
The story goes that Ballesteros had signed with the Swoosh brand in 1985, becoming the first golfer to wear Nike. Nike had sent Ballesteros several golf shirts to wear that week at Augusta National. However, Nike hadn't sent a visor or a hat for Ballesteros, and he was going to wear one with a chance to win the tournament for a second time.

Knowing the opportunity in front of him and the potential exposure for Nike, Ballesteros went into the Augusta National pro shop and bought a Masters visor. He cut off two Nikes logos from his shirts, and he glued them over top the Masters logo to make his iconic visor. One logo wasn't enough to cover the Masters logo, so he used two instead.
As Ballesteros' son, Javier, noted on X, Nike even remembered that the top logo was a shirt tag with the M for medium on it.
Ballesteros, of course, didn't win the 1986 Masters. Jack Nicklaus did. However, Ballesteros had the tournament in his hands heading into the second nine on Sunday. He had a three-shot advantage with nine to go, before ultimately finding the water on the par-5 15th and opening the door for Nicklaus to win his sixth and final green jacket at the age of 46.
