The Masters Tournament dates back to 1934, when the tournament debuted as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. There have been 89 Masters played going those 91 years, and the prize money has increased dramatically in that time frame.

Rory McIlroy won $4.2 million at the 2025 Masters in earning his first-career green jacket. However, despite two Masters wins at the most lucrative time in history to play the Masters Tournament, he's not the leader on the Masters all-time money list.

Scottie Scheffler won $3.6 million in earning his second-career green jacket in 2024. Despite two Masters wins at the most lucrative time in history to play the Masters Tournament, though, he's not the leader on the Masters all-time money list.

Phil Mickelson is the player who has won the most prize money in Masters history. He has played in 32 Masters tournaments and earned $9,870,317 in total prize money. That puts the three-time Masters champion in front of five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods.

Woods has won $9,642,636 in 26 career starts, marking a $202,681 difference between the two players. Woods has, of course, earned more per start than Mickelson.

McIlroy, the 2025 champion, is third, earning $8,543,021 in 17 Masters appearances.
