National Links Trust partners with Fescue & Dunes for new online marketplace

The National Links Trust has partnered with Fescue & Dunes to create a new online marketplace, selling NLT-branded gear from some of the best brands in golf apparel to benefit the organization.

Since 2020, the National Links Trust had been the operator of the three public golf courses in Washington, D.C. -- East Potomac Golf Course, Rock Creek Golf Course and Langston Golf Course -- as part of a 50-year lease to run and improve each of the facilities. However, in December 2025, the Trump administration terminated the lease agreement, alleging NLT has been in default of its lease obligations, including back rent to the government.

The National Links Trust denies the government's claims, pointing to rent-relief clauses in the lease that offset rent based on improvements made to the facilities.

The National Links Trust has agreed to continue managing the three facilities on a temporary basis until a new operator can be identified.

"Since our founding, the National Links Trust has had the privilege to ensure that DC’s municipal golf courses remain accessible, affordable, and welcoming to all. Our commitment remains unchanged and we will continue to pursue our mission with the support of our community for as long as we are allowed," said the NLT in a December 2025 statement.

Fescue & Dunes is the first company to help golfers relive their best rounds and favorite memories through authentic, licensed apparel and accessories, sold through an online marketplace. Golfers can order the apparel from the Fescue & Dunes marketplace, and it will be customized to their order before being shipped directly to them. Featured brands include B. Draddy, Zero Restriction, Straight Down, Johnnie-O, Imperial, Seamus Golf, Sun Mountain, and more.

Currently, Fescue & Dunes has more than 30 international clubs -- mostly in the United Kingdom and Ireland -- on their platform. The company expects to have more than 60 clubs by the end of 2026. Clubs already on the platform include Royal Birkdale, Royal St. George's, Tralee, Brittas Bay (formerly The European Club), Lofoten Links, Portmarnock and Dooks.

Fescue & Dunes provides clubs with new revenue streams, including an in-shop module to assist traveling golfers, with the products ordered waiting for them when they get home. This is particularly helpful for destination clubs, to which many golfers may only travel once in their lives. Having an opportunity to pick the apparel or merchandise that best fits their style -- whether the day of visiting or years after the fact -- is a great convenience.
