The 2026 LIV Golf South Africa format has been unveiled, with the LIV Golf event played at The Club at Steyn City in the South Africa.
The 2026 LIV Golf South Africa field is 57 players.
The LIV Golf South Africa field is made up of many top players as well as a variety of lesser-known players, with Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Anthony Kim, Joaquin Niemann and more leading the way.
LIV Golf South Africa individual format
The LIV Golf South Africa format is a 72-hole event. The field is divided into groups while playing in two formats: an individual event with a $20 million purse, as well as a team-based event with 13 four-person teams competing for a separate $10 million purse awarded to all 13 teams.
A cut is not made after 36 holes.
For the third and final rounds, pairings and tee times are made based on each player's total score through two and three rounds, respectively.
The player with the lowest total score after 72 holes is the winner. The team with the lowest 72-hole total wins the separate team competition.
A playoff to settle any ties after 72 holes will be played under rules similar to the PGA Tour. The LIV Golf playoff format is a sudden-death format. The players compete hole-by-hole until a winner is determined by a player scoring the lowest among the remaining players.
The winning player will get $4 million, 200 LIV Golf League points and 24 Official World Golf Ranking points
LIV Golf South Africa team format
The concurrent team competition sees the 13 four-person teams counting individual scores each day. All four scores on each team will count toward the team total in every round, a change for 2026. The lowest total team score wins.
The winning team will earn $3 million for the franchise.
This year, there are 13 teams of four, meaning there are five players in the field that are not affiliated with any team. Those individuals compete only in the individual tournament and have no bearing on the team competition.
LIV Golf South Africa playoff format
In the event of a tie, the top two available players from each team in the playoff (meaning, players who are not in a potential concurrent individual playoff) will play together in a sudden-death, aggregate-score playoff. The team with the lowest combined score will win, and any teams tied for the lowest aggregate score will advance to the next playoff hole until a winner is determined.
