The 2026 Farmers Insurance Open is played this year at Torrey Pines Golf Courses, with the South serving as host, while the North has half the field for the first two rounds, near San Diego, California.

The tournament's host course has been Torrey Pines for a while now, and both courses have been renovated in the last 20 years.

Torrey Pines South Course plays as a par-72 golf course, playing to a scorecard distance of 7,765 yards, making it one of the longest golf course on the PGA Tour. Four courses on the PGA Tour player under 7,000 yards, and one of them is for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Then, we have the North course that plays to a length of 7,258 yards. It's a par-72 course as well, playing much easier than the South course, though still more difficult than before its most recent renovation.

Torrey Pines South Course scorecard breakdown

Torrey Pines' South Course has four par 5s, four par 3s and 10 par 4s, and the golf course finishes with a challenging 3-4-5 finish. The scorecard remains the same from 2024.

There's a similar length in the par 3s, with most hanging around that range of 200-220 yards. The par 5s are birdie opportunities for any player in the field, but they're challenging to reach in two.

The par 4s have an interesting mix of shorter and longer, setting up kind of like one another on both sides, just in a different order of par.

Torrey Pines South Course course breakdown

Now that we know the layout of the golf course, what else makes Torrey Pines' South Course a challenge?

This is a brute. The South is long, and almost every hole has a demanding approach shot. There are plenty of tiers on the greens and smaller sub-tiers where shots have to land to get close to certain pins. The tee shots are demanding because of the thick rough, and there's enough drop-offs and just enough water in play artificially to pose a challenge.
