The LIV Golf League is expanding for 2026, increasing the number of players on the Saudi-owned tour from 54 to 57 for its fifth year.
As in 2025, there will be 13 teams of four players competing in 13 simultaneous individual and team competitions. However, the number of unaffiliated wild-card players will be expanded from two to five.
Additionally, LIV Golf has made available a third spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League through their Promotions event, played from Jan. 8-11 in Florida.
The top three players from the Promotions event will join the top two players from the Asian Tour's 2025 International Series order of merit, former LIV Golf player Scott Vincent and Yosuke Asaji, as the five wild-card players on LIV Golf in 2026.
In 2024, LIV Golf offered one potential spot 2025 league spot through the International Series order of merit, and that spot was not guaranteed to a non-LIV Golf player. The previous Promotions event also offered only a single LIV Golf spot for 2025, down from two the prior year.
The LIV Golf Promotions event features four rounds of 18-hole stroke play, with players entering the tournament at different stages based on their status in LIV Golf, the Asian Tour and global professional golf.
On Jan. 8, those players who enter in Round 1 and finish in the top 20 and ties will advance to the second round on Friday, where scores will reset. In the Friday round, another cluster of players will join the advancing field for another 18-hole round. At the end of the Friday round, the top 20 players and any ties will advance to the a closing 36-hole tournament played over two days, with scores wiped ahead of the weekend rounds. The top three finishers at the conclusion of Sunday play will earn LIV Golf League spots in 2026.
The top 10 finishers and ties will be fully exempt into the 2026 International Series.
