Daniel Berger withdrew from this week's 2025 Grant Thornton Invitational on Monday, changing the field for this week's PGA Tour and LPGA Tour event at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
Berger was committed to the field at the tournament deadline, but he pulled out of the event on Monday without giving a reason.
Now Berger will not participate in the event in the team event, where he was set to play with Charley Hull. Taking Berger's place in the field is world No. 35 Michael Brennan, who stunned the golf world by winning the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert Resort in his third-career PGA Tour start.
There are now 19 top-50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking or Rolex Women's World Golf Ranking in the field. There are 16 teams, each with one PGA Tour player and one LPGA Tour player, competing in a three-day event.
Berger has not given a reason for the withdrawal. Whatever the reason, Berger's absence is a negative for the team event, though Brennan also gets a great opportunity to showcase his talent and prodigious length.
The Brennan-Hull team is now at 15-to-2 (+750) betting odds to win, while the duo of Denny McCarthy and Nelly Korda are favorites to win the event at 11-to-2.
