Buying a holiday gift or a birthday present for a golfer? Grab one of these 10 things under $60

Every person in my life that could possibly buy me a birthday or Christmas gift knows I play golf. That makes me pretty easy to shop for, at least in concept. Buy me a golf thing, and I'll probably be pretty happy.

However, most of the people shopping for golfers don't themselves play golf, so they don't really know what makes a good golf gift. They're doing their best, and the thought is what matters, but that often leads to gifts that are either soulless or quite funky.

The reality is that the greatest golf gifts cost a lot of money -- way more than anyone else should ever spend on a person. Still, there are all kinds of great, useful gifts for golfers that cost $60 or less that they will love and will make you, particularly as a non-golfer, look fabulous.

The best 10 gifts for golfers under $60

A dozen tour-caliber golf balls: There are so many great golf balls in the market right now, but whether you choose the Titleist ProV1 line, TaylorMade's TP5 line, the Srixon Z-Star line, Callaway's Chrome Tour lineup or the Bridgestone Tour B series, there are great deals on dozens of balls under $50.

Kentwool socks: Kentwool makes the best golf socks. They're made from great wool and last for years. Your feet don't blister, and they breathe well in summer and winter. You can purchase a single pair of socks for $22-$26, or you can buy sets of up to six pairs of socks for less than $100.

A golf-gear trunk organizer: If you're like me and carry a lot of your golf life in the trunk of your car, this organizer is great. It has pockets to hold balls, tees, your GPS or laser, two pairs of shoes, clothes and more. Keep your trunk organized!

CaddyDaddy cooler bag: Every golfer wants a cool beverage on a hot day on the golf course. So why not BYOB? With this CaddyDaddy cooler bag, which costs $24, your favorite golfer can bring a six-pack-plus and keep 'em cool throughout the round. Or...

Frostbag cooler sleeve bag: If your golfer loves to walk, or they have to store their beverages in a more inconspicuous manner, the Frostbag cooler sleeve is great. It holds sixn cans of your choice, keeps them cold and stores discreetly inside the long pocket of most golf bags for just $26.

USB-charged hand warmers: A pair of rechargeable handwarmers comes in handy on those cold mornings when you need to keep from freezing. You can get a good pair for around $20.

A Yeti tumbler: Most golfers I know, even the ones that ride in a cart, have a water bottle in their bag when they play. The 18 oz. Yeti tumbler is available in an insane number of colors and patterns, and, most importantly, keeps water very cold and has a twist-off cap.

Indoor putting mat: Few golfers can realistically play 12 months of the year, and they get a little stir crazy in the winter months with less daylight to work on the game. An indoor putting is a great holiday gift, with marks to help a golfer work on their putting stroke at different distances, as well as a ball return to make it convenient.

A squirting, scrubbing golf club brush: Caddy Splash makes a lovely golf club-cleaning brush, complete with a squirting well that gets your club wet before you scrub it. For just $14, these things come in handy on the course, or before and after a round!

A starter golf travel bag: Traveling for golf has never been more popular, but golfers who might be getting ready to take their first trip don't want to spend several hundred dollars on a bag. Get a starter soft-sided bag, that will absolutely do a good job, for $40. Maybe it's the encouragement they need to book their first trip!
